This regulatory environment is bolstered by powerful regional ecosystems, such as the "Northwest Supercluster". By linking universities, NHS trusts, and industry partners, these clusters create a seamless pathway from research to commercial manufacturing.

 

Future-proofing through sustainability and digitalisation

With UK electricity costs significantly higher than in other regions, energy efficiency is now a critical component of controlling operating costs. Facilities are increasingly integrating AI and intelligent building management systems (BMS) to monitor power spikes, occupancy, and temperature in real-time. As automation handles more manual tasks, the role of the operator is also evolving, requiring a continuous investment in data analysis and strategic upskilling.
